I got a whole trailer load of E-Scrap the other day and decided to keep the big TV’s mainly becaue I like Tube base electronics, and I’ve never worked on a rear projection system before. Not sure how to calibrate the samsung, it would make a kick ass workshop TV if I could fix it. There is water in the Fresnel lens too :(

another question about 3D lol?

well i just bought a new 52" sony LCD/HD T.V. with a home theater system, and blu-ray dvd player, do i need anything else in order to watch a3D movie on it? or do i need to set something up through settings towatch it? i also have a HDMI hook up for for the blu-ray…..i was told i was set to watch 3D through that for now from some people and my fiance then i got this message recently "You need a 3D video source and the proper glasses. For example, a 3D blu-ray disc and the glasses that come with it. Different 3D requires different glasses. There are the classic blue-red glasses, then there are amber-blue glasses. I don’t know if there are others.

Now, the newer 3D that you are seeing in theaters is kind of available at home, but you need a tv (usually plasma) equipped with that feature — you then need to hook it up to a PC and have the proper polarizing glasses. Samsung has a plasma that does it already … Sony is coming out with one (I am not sure if this one will require a PC), but it does require glasses that are the most expensive part of the package" anyone else have any input on this discussion?

Samsung Blu Ray Player HELP. please.?

I just bought a samsung blu ray player today (model BD-C6500) it sounded great, wireless internet, blah blah blah. So I get home and the set up looks simple. All you have to do is plug the hdmi cable from the blu ray player into the back of my hdtv ( its a 42" sharp flat panel hdtv- fairly new) guess what? it doesnt work. I decided to see if it was the blu ray player itself so I plugged in the regular a/v cables (red, white, yellow) and that works fine. so why wouldnt the hdmi cable work? I have an hd tv that works great, i know its not the tv. Before returning I figured Id see if anyone had any other suggestions. ( I even bought a new high speed hdmi cable)

Which company makes best HDTV?

I am planning to buy a HDTV (40" or higher) LCD with 1080p. There are so many options out there: Samsung, Sony, Vizio, RCA, etc.

Which one is the best based on your experience? Please also list any points on why you think the company you recommend is better than the others.

Aso what is the difference between LCD HDTVs and Plasma HDTVs. Why are Plasmas little cheaper compared to LCDs?

Which hdtv is best for my playstation 3?

I need to know which hdtv is best for my playstation 3. I thinkn about getting a samsung, but don’t know which model to get. They have a new one out, but i’m not sure if it’s good or not.

Buying a new LCD HDTV, will be connecting it to a DirecTV HD DVR receiver, but my existing DVD library is all in standard definition (as well as…gasp…all my old VCR tapes), and I don’t plan on instantly throwing all that media away in favor of Blu-Ray. I’m going to need (I assume) to buy a new DVD player that will upconvert my SD DVDs to 1080i (maybe there’s a Blu-Ray that will do that too), doubt there’s anything I can do relative to the VCR except hook it up via the appropriate connectors. Of course, I’ll use HDMI cabling for the DirecTV and new DVD player.

At any rate, I’ve heard horror stories that SD content looks like crap on an LCD HDTV (in terms of graininess) compared to the picture I’d get on my old tube TV. I know about setting the format to 4:3 for non-widescreen HD stuff, just more concerned about general SD picture quality. Do some HDTVs do a better job of presenting a high quality SD picture, and if so, which ones? I’m looking at a "budget" model (Philips, Vizio, Toshiba, LG, Sharp) in the 42-47" range, preferably 120Hz, trying to keep the price under 0. I’d consider paying a little more for a Samsung or Sony if they will display a far better SD picture than the other brands. Does anyone have any recommendations (or want to steer me away from certain brands/models)? Am I worrying needlessly?
